All In One Printers ? Home Office Workhorses

by: Bill Smith

All in one printers, also known as multifunction printers (MFPs), are printers that also can copy, scan, and in some cases, fax. These machines perform all of these functions, generally using a single set of ink cartridges for both printing and copying. They are not much larger than stand-alone printers, making them a great tool for small home offices.

You can find an excellent all-on-one Epson printer for under $200 ? a steal if you ask me. Have you ever priced a copying machine? Good luck finding one for under $750. These little gems produce high quality printouts and color copies that are indistinguishable from the originals. You?d think that these machines would ?drink? ink ? I was pleasantly surprised to find that this is not the case. The copying process uses about the same quantity of ink as the printing process.

Most MFPs offer high resolution, photo-quality printouts without sacrificing speed. This makes them ideal for the amateur photographer, the average home owner, or even the college student who needs to print thesis papers and PowerPoint presentations. You can?t imagine how helpful it is having a copier in your home. For a few extra dollars, you can pick up a printer with a built in copier and never have to run to Staples again.

The printer market is so competitive right now that you can probably score a significant rebate on an all in one printer. Recently I?ve seen rebates for as much as $50 off new Epson all-one-printers. Check around, do some price-shopping, and you too can experience the luxury of a low-cost, home copier/printer.

About The Author

Bill Smith is an expert on printers.
About Centralized Computer Systems

by: Florie Lyn Masarate

Before networking was used in computer systems, copying and printing was treated in varying ways. Many companies place inexpensive printers on each employee?s desk. Talk about using maximum number of resources. As this is quite convenient for every employee, not all company can afford having to buy many printers and other things that needed for them.

Today?s printers however, thanks to modern technology, does not only copy. They are now made to follow instructions that come from network devices. This is printing centralized printing style. The manufacturers have also added printing capabilities to these copiers to add more usable features and convenience without having to use many equipments and tools. With additional charge, of course. But compared to having to buy many printers to be used, the price is a small thing to consider. Centralizing printing has many advantages both for the company and employees.

Superior print quality. Being more sophisticated, not to mention more expensive, they produce more quality prints compared to other less expensive ones. If you think of the more beautiful prints that these copiers can make, then the expenses shed in buying them is fair enough.

Monitoring of supplies. A centralized printer allows the company to monitor the expenses and the use and overuse of toner, paper. Some of these printers have reports on the date and time of usage. This way the company can check if there are employees using them after office hours. These copiers are not meant for those who are taking advantage of company resources for personal purposes.

Specialized printing. Not all printers can print on both sides of the paper and make it not appear too obvious. Not all can format papers for stapling and folding requirements. These copiers are quite capable of these and other features depending on the program that that the operation requires. Lessens the task of the people and letting the printers do most of the work.

Easy maintenance and repair. Having only one system and repair is convenient for the IT department. Makes up for having to check all the printers and systems one by one. Some of the problems can even be repaired just from one main system.

For the employees having to do lots of printing and needed to go halfway down the entire length of the building to do so, using these copiers and printers would be one big relief for them. The expensive system also means that they would probably last a long time and quite some time too before repairs. It can also mean that the savings will have to wait after the initial purchase of these machines.

But if you think of the printing advantages like the ones mentioned, then why not?

For comments and inquiries about the article visit http://www.digitalprintingcompany.com

About The Author

Florie Lyn Masarate got the flair for reading and writing when she got her first subscription of the school newsletter in kindergarten.
Digital Photo Printer Choices

by: Florie Lyn Masarate

Digital photo printers come in variety shapes and sizes nowadays. But whatever they may look like, they still do one thing; they transform colored digital pictures into high-quality photo prints while you sit back and wait. Thanks to the inventors of digital camera, most printers are now affordable and easy to use. Many of them do not even have to be connected to a computer to print.

Before you indulge yourself into buying your own digital printer, there are questions that needed answering first to ensure that what printer you will be shopping for is the one right for you.

Will the digital printer work with your camera?

Buy a digital printer with a media slot that has the same kind of memory card your camera uses. Or a printer that connects directly, using a cable of course, to your camera. A USB-capable printer that connects to your computer is a nice option. The process is fairly simple. You just have to drop the photos into the hard drive, edit and print them from there.

What printing technology suit you best?

There are basically two kinds of technology that is inherent in photo printers. Dye sublimation and inkjet. Both kinds can produce brilliant images.

Some people believe that dye sublimation excels at continuous tone printing. While others prefer the crisp colors, inexpensive supplies and print flexibility of inkjet and bubble jet printers. Whichever kind you choose, remember that optimizing a printer for photo printing will do a much better job than general use printer.

How much resolution do you need?

Take note that the higher the resolution, the crisper the print result will be. For example, a 400 dpi resolution is finer than a 300 dpi resolution.

Take note also that resolution cannot be compared between dye sublimation and inkjet printers. The numbers of dpi required to make the same quality photo print may vary depending on the different aspects of the printers.

Does the printer have editing capabilities?

Some printers let you edit digital photos. This editing capability can range from a few limited text messages and crop sizes to a touch screen LCD that allows multiple picture editing before printing.

The type you will use would depend if whether you want to do some editing, in the first place. And if you do want, choose if you rather do sophisticated editing on a computer or quick adjustments from a printer.

You choose. Your digital printer will do it for you.

For comments and inquiries about the article visit http://www.digitalprintingcompany.com

About The Author

Florie Lyn Masarate got the flair for reading and writing when she got her first subscription of the school newsletter in kindergarten.
10 Tips In Better Photography

by: Michael Colucci

Taking a good photo isn?t as hard as you may think. You don?t need the most expensive camera or years of experience, just 10 simple tips.

Enjoy!

Tip 1 - Use All Your Available Space

Don't be afraid to use all the space in your photo. If you want to take a picture of something, it's ok for it to take up the whole shot with no or very little background showing. Keep distractions out of your shot

Tip 2 - Study Forms

This is a vital aspect to photography. Understanding forms in your photos. Don't see an object, she its shape and its form and find the best angle to photograph it from. Form is all around us and I highly suggest you read as many books on it as possible.

Tip 3 - Motion In Your Photos

Never have motion in your photos if you are photographing a still object. If there is something moving while you are trying to photograph a stationery object, your photo won't turn out anywhere near as well. Also never put a horizon line in the center of your frame.

Tip 4 - Learn To Use Contrasts Between Colors.

Some of the best photos have shades of white, gray and black. You can take great shots with just one color on your subject, but the contrasts between colors in a shot is what makes you a great photographer.

Tip 5 - Get Closer To Your Subject

This is one of the biggest mistakes most photographers make, not getting close enough to their subject. Get up and personal and close the distance gap. You can always reshape and resize a good shot but you can't continue to blowup a distant object.

Tip 6 - Shutter Lag

Shooting action shots with digital camera's can be tricky due to shutter lags. What this means is, when you press the button to take the photo, it can take up to a second for the shutter to take a photo, by that time what you were photographing would have moved or changed somehow. This means you have to compensate for shutter lag by predicting what your subject is going to do and taking the photo just before it takes the action you want. More expensive digital cameras don't have this problem.

Tip 7 - Pan

If you are taking an action shot and your shutter speed is slow, pan with the object. Follow through with the subject, from start to finish and one of those shots will be a winner. You have more chance of getting a good shot if you take more then one photo.

Tip 8 - Continuous Shots

To pan like I suggested above you will need a camera that does continuous shots and doesn?t need to stop and process after every shot.

Tip 9 - How To Take Fantastic Night Time Shots

Night time shots can be spectacular, almost magical.... if done right! If not they can look horrible. Really horrible. Without adequate lighting, even good camera's can turn out crappy photos if the photographer doesn't know what he or she is doing.

Tip 10 - Study Your Manual

If your digital camera has a special night time mode, read the manual and follow their instructions on how to use it properly.

About The Author

Michael Colucci is a technical writer for http://www.photography-tips.org - A site that offers the latest tips on photography.

7 Ways To Save On Your InkJet Printing Costs

by: Mark Idzik

Inkjet printers are not only getting better, they're also getting less expensive. Why is that?

The inkjet printer manufacturers have built their business around the supplies rather than the printer itself. They make the printers as inexpensive as possible, sometimes selling them at cost, or less and making long term profits from the inkjet cartridges.

Manufacturers regularly warn about using generic cartridges, and highly recommend their own. Truth be told, there is very little difference between the two and you can regularly save over half of your current manufacturer branded cartridge purchases.

To help keep your inkjet supply costs low, here are seven tips that will keep you under budget:

1. When printing inter-office, internal, personal or draft documents, use the "draft" and "grayscale" options in your printer settings. This will save on both black ink was well as color ink. Save color and standard black for your final document print.

2. Select inkjet printers that use separate black and color inkjet cartridges like the Canon "i" series. Many of these printers have 2 black and 4 color cartridges that allow you to replace only the colors that are running low, not just the one 'color' cartridge as many printers often do. This saves on long term cartridge costs and lengthens the time between cartridge replacements.

3. Purchase "generic" cartridges made for your printer. These are of similar quality to the manufacturer's brand, and often at less than half the price.

4. Purchase "remanufactured" cartridges compatible with your printer. These are cartridges collected from the original owner, cleaned and re-filled with the same ink.

5. Purchase a cartridge "refill kit". You'll receive a kit that will allow you to refill the ink in your cartridge rather than a new cartridge. This is a great way to recycle and the quality is high and costs low.

6. Purchase your cartridges in bulk to save on shipping costs and discounts are sometimes available on larger single purchases.

7. Order your cartridges online to save time and money. Many local stores don't carry the generic versions and costs are normally substantially lower online.

Using any combination of the tips above will save you both time and money and help you manage your inkjet printing supply needs easily.

About The Author

Mark Idzik is a technology specialist and assists small businesses to use the web effectively.
6 Things To Consider Before When Getting A Photo Lab

by: George Williams

Digital cameras are so popular in recent years due to its convenience and capacity. Every event or celebration you go to now has at least several people snapping away. Once you pay for the camera and memory cards, your costs are zero, until you actually have a picture you want to print. You can take 40 pictures of your new child, niece, nephew, grandchild, etc, and if only two good shots came out of that, then you only pay for those two.

In fact, owning your own photo quality printer is definitely faster. There are even people who take a small printer with them and make prints for other guests right away. It is almost as easy as a traditional Polaroid camera. The large chains have jumped into this fray in a BIG way. Wal-Mart, Blacks, Business Depot, and many others. With all this competition comes low, low pricing. A typical 4x6 print from a big chain is cheaper than the retail cost of the do-it-yourself paper that the same chain sells in their photography center. And at home you still have to pay for the ink!

Here are 6 things to consider when getting a photo lab to print your digital pictures.

- Price. All the major players have priced their 4x6 size very competitively. The larger sizes though, like 5x7 or 8x10, are usually higher in cost than what you can do it for at home.

- Delivery. Does your photo lab let you pick them up in the store, or do you have to wait for the post office or a courier? Picking them up at the store should be a no-cost option. If you can pick them up, is the location easy to get in and out of?

- Timing. How fast do they work? One photo lab has a reputation of having most orders ready in one business day. Another is a bit cheaper, but takes a week.

- Drop Off. Can you upload your digital pictures to them via the internet (very convenient) or do you have to deliver them on a floppy or CD?

- Quality. You may have to talk to relatives, friends, and co-workers about this one. Find others who have already tried various printers. One photo lab's web site states that they will not print a picture with too low a resolution (nothing under 150 DPI allowed). This can be inconvenient, but assures you of a quality print. Speaking of resolution, a 4x6 printed at 200 DPI requires a digital print that is 800 by 1200 pixels. An older model 1.0 megapixel camera can do this easily. If you have a more modern 3.3 megapixel camera you can create a 200 DPI print that is 8x10. One of the advantages of a better camera, say a 5 mp, is that you can "crop" part of the picture away and still have the 3.3 megapixels required for an 8x10.

- A standard "snapshot" for a photo album is 4x6 in size. That is a ratio of 1.5. Most new cameras have a photo ratio of 1.33! What happens if you send a 1.33 picture to a photo lab and ask for a 4x6? They cut off ("crop") part of the picture you took, making it shorter on its longest side. You may not like the part they cut off! The best internet upload systems for photo labs allow you to indicate what can be cut off. Alternatively, use a program on your computer to make the digital picture the correct size and ratio before uploading.

Since you have to pay nothing for the digital camera unless you want to print it out, it is advised that you take as many pictures as possible and choose the best picture later when you want to print them.

About The Author

George Williams maintains many printer websites, including http://www.printercartridgesecrets.info, http://www.lasertonersecrets.info, and http://www.hpprintercartridge.info.
Be Smart in Choosing a Laser Printer

by: Karen Nodalo

You may be needing printers at home or at the office. A laser printer is a good choice but you have to be very particular in buying. There are some reminders you need to consider when buying laser printers. First you need to decide what type of documents you will be printing more often. Think whether you are printing more on text, graphics or large paper sizes and more. This is important because printers have different jobs and specialties in printing documents.

If you are going to use printers for tough printing, you need to buy a durable printer that will not wear out easily. You need to make a list of the specific features that you need and expect in your printers. This will include the ability of handling large files and the ability to print on different types of media such as envelopes and labels without jamming. Take note of the size of your desk. The desk space will determine the size of printer that you will buy.

The compatibility of the printer with specific software is also necessary to consider. You can compare the print quality of the various printers you are choosing from. To do this, you can compare the resolution which is in dots per inch. You can even use a magnifying glass to compare the different print outputs if you may want to. This will help you observe keenly the differences of the prints. Magnifying the prints will let you determine which prints are accurate and those that are not.

Speed specification is also important especially if you are printing a lot of pages in a day. If you are printing hundreds of pages, will you be patient enough to wait for long hours to wait till it gets done? Of course not, so go for the printer that can print speedily. You can ask printer shop owners in order to be familiarized with the speed of the printer. You should also ask about the RAM of the printer and find out if it is expandable. Expandable can be compared to flexibility because your printer should be ready for upgrades or updates. It should be suitable for different types of software and programs to print.

Now, all you have to do is to keep these reminders in mind if you are going to buy a printer. Make sure that the printer you have chosen can handle the entire job that you need.

For more related articles, you may visit http://www.catalogprintingexperts.com

About The Author

Karen Nodalo has graduated from the Bicol University specializing in Computer Science, she graduated with flying honors being one of the top notch students of the graduating class.
